Jay Adana- Human female who makes pleasing noises. Definitely not an alien.

In 2013 a group of friends from college began working on an adaptation of the Tin Man story from Frank L Baum's The Wizard of Oz in my living room. It involves Bunraku style puppetry and while the puppets are surprisingly emotive, something was missing in the storytelling. So I ducked into the bathroom and wrote a song to tell the story. After that I couldn't stop. That show was called The Woodsman. It was first seen in Brooklyn with an overhead projector for lighting at Standard Toykraft and ended up at New World Stages. Most recently the piece I'm writing with Zeniba Now, The Loophole, a folk/rap alternate history of the American Civil War with a dash of magic was seen at The Public Theater as part of Public Studio. I'm also very grateful to be a Richard Rodgers Award winner (for The Loophole, 2020), a Jonathan Larson Award winner (2018), a Dramatist Guild Foundation Fellow (2018-2019), a Public Theater #BARS Residency Writer (2017), and SPACE on Ryder Farm alum.
